About Jordan's Placement:

Derby Grammar School student Jordan Craig came to us on a one week work experience in early July 2009 in the middle of a very hectic week as the Studio prepared for the arrival of Alfons Bytautas from Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop to host a four day printmaking master class.
Jordan was given an introduction to basic printmaking techniques in monoprinting, collograpy and serigraphy with a special session on ways in which he could add colour to his prints. Jordan was free to experiment with these techniques and produced several prints to add to his portfolio. Jordan was an enthusiastic student and a pleasure to teach. We hope that his experience will encourage him to join Green Door as a member and build on this promising start as a printmaker.
Jordan's Statement:
My name is Jordan Craig, I'm 16 years old, and rather eccentric in the stuff that I do. I like art as, along with writing it is a brilliant way of expressing myself. I came to green door for work-experience and really really liked it and hope to become a member to help with my GCSE course.
A lot of the art that I look at is to do with Monsters or Mythology because I can come up with an endless supply of weird and wacky creatures, I love to draw and like cartoon creations such as 'Calvin & Hobbes' Because I think that they are well drawn and are an interesting way of looking at life. I liked the collography that I did here, with my Oni, and also doing a screen-print pattern on a t-shirt. I like the work of Hokusai, Dali, and some of the ideas used by Damien Hirst.
