Artist's Statement:
I am Pan. My interest in Printmaking began while I was studying for my Art A Level. Prior to this I had a keen interest in sculpture and fine art. I am of the belief that printmaking (like all Art forms) should not be hazardous to personal health or the environment, and am therefore trained in the safer approach to these processes.
My work is primarily figurative; I am most fascinated by expression of the face and body. I typically incorporate an initial line drawing, a printmaking element, and digital components to compose my illustrations. In terms of composition and line I am inspired by the work of admired Artists such as Egon Schiele and to a certain extent Aubrey Beardsley, as well as contemporary Artists such as (Printmaker) Lizz Hickey and (Illustrator) Sam Weber. For me, the most important aspect of an illustration is its quality of line as well as its ability to transmit its context to the viewer; this is something that attracts me towards other Illustrators work as well as something I strive for in my own.
