About Ayben's Placement:

Ayben is a PHD student from the University of Ankara, Turkey who was an artist in residence at Green Door for the duration of the summer (July - October 2010).


Ayben's Statement:

I use old doors, locks and doorknockers images for my printmaking. I have printed my works from photographs I have taken. I am affected by old doors photographs after I am selecting each other and I set up composition for my works. Especially, I prefer old doors. Because, old door is very full of life. Who has opened these doors? Who had closed these doors? Who has lived behind the doors? Who can give the answer? How many people have touched the doorknockers? When I am thinking, searching of life is appreciable by audience. I think, all answers can be provided by the audience's imagination.

I describe my self as a painter, printmaker and art education teacher. Because, I make oil paintings, acrylic paintings and printmaking. I work at the department of fine arts education in Ankara University in Turkey. Also, I am a PHD student at same department. I come from Turkey because, I am an Erasmus student for training. I chose to Green Door because, Green Door has expertise and real professional courses. Also, there is Acrylic Resist Etching at Green Door. This is important for me. Because, I know traditional etching but Acrylic Resist Etching is new technique and it is healthy for me.
