Derby's Best Kept Secret Transforms the Derby Royal Hospital
Between April and September this year, Royal Derby Hospital is set to showcase artwork from members of Green Door Printmaking Studio. Green Door Printmaking Studio. Derbyshire's only open access artist studio dedicated to the art and craft of innovative and environmentally sound printmaking.
Anna and Pandora Johnson, the co-founders of Green Door and Mother/daughter team are proud to present a special collection of prints from selected members of the studio. For this exhibition, showcase a wide range work using innovative printmaking techniques with the aim of bringing a little of the outside world into spaces within the hospital.
A Familiar Place
A Familiar Place, prints by Heather Horsley at Derby Cathedral Centre
from 19th February to 15th April 2011 Bringing to life the interaction between the people of Derby and their architectural heritage. ‘A Familiar Place’, is Heather’s first Solo Exhibition in which she explores Derby’s architecture and peoples’ relationship to it, stemming from a fascination with the interplay between buildings and people. Heather says, “Derby has so much to offer, it has a wealth of interesting architecture and distinctive places where people can relax, enjoy and relate to beautiful surroundings and the atmosphere it creates”.
Beauty in Decay
Green Door is delighted to have been able to fulfil member Kevin A Pickering's lifelong ambition to present a one-man exhibition of his latest work. The show was launched at the Studio's wall space within the Derby Cathedral Centre Coffee Shop at a well attended Private Preview on Saturday 1st May 2010. After the break for the May Day Bank Holiday the show re-opened for a two month run throughout May and June.
The Beetroot Tree Exhibition
The full range of pioneering printmaking processes undertaken at Green Door will be showcased through a major exhibition of members’ work at The Beetroot Tree, Draycott, in the New Year.
Green Door's Flash Draw: Proves a Success
Green Door’s latest Big Draw venture proved to be a huge success with members of the public. Members of Green Door hit Derby in Flash Mob style armed with Post-ItTM pads, felt-tip pens and a positive 'everyone can draw' attitude. Submissions were photographed at each site and collected to feature in a follow-up virtual exhibition at: exhibitions.greendoor-printmaking.co.uk/bigdraw2008/
