About Rebekah's Placement:

Rebekah came to us for a week (spread over the Easter holidays) in April 2011. Rebekah chose to undertake a course in Acrylic Resist Etching: Line Drawing (our first placement to choose this technique!) working towards her chosen project brief of designing an album cover.


Rebekah's Statement:

My teacher first recommended Green Door to me last year, this was at a time when I had no idea what printmaking was really about and possessed very little interest in the subject. Having been a member at Green Door for a time she reassured me that it would be a good experience. Since then I have totally changed my view! Printmaking can let you create some of the most disturbing or beautiful images you could imagine.

For the project I chose Acrylic Resist Etching, it was the best choice as it allowed me to great amounts of detail into the print, which is how I prefer to work. I can tell you now though there's a lot of work involved way before you've even touched a printing press! But you're taken through the process step by step (make sure to take notes!) and everyone at Green Door is so helpful and friendly.

It was definitely worth applying for and overall it was fascinating and I had a great time. What's really cool though is that I can put all my work here towards my A-level :3 Win, win!
