A solo exhibition by Walt Shaw.

The prints in this show are all collagraphs produced at Green Door Printmaking Studio where I am a member. Like a lot of my work, the pieces explore and probe, in particular, the tension between polarities.

This series of prints works by exploring the two poles of control and spontaneity.You may also detect another exploration – a polarity of geometry against organic fluidity – which produces for me a rich, visual energy.

I taught Biology in the 70s and 80s and some of the microscopic structures of cells keep surfacing in the imagery. Curious thing the mind!
