About this process
Collography, as an intaglio method of printmaking, is a robust and direct way of creating a print from varying layers, cut-out from the surface.
The collograph block is created out of heavyweight card, making it the perfect surface to cut and draw into with tools and implements to create lines, blocks of tone and/or any mark-making. The block can also be treated as a base, upon which items and objects are collaged and glued to create tone, shape and texture in areas amongst which the ink will pick up details. Using heavyweight cotton-rag paper, the collograph block is then inked up using the intaglio method (pushing the ink into the removed sections of the block’s surface) and printed using an Intaglio press.
This is the perfect technique for those who love experimenting with mark-making and tones and would like to learn how to produce a series of prints.

If you would like to discuss your project, we highly recommend that you arrange a date to come into the studio in order to discuss your course beforehand so we can learn more about your aims. To confirm your booking you will need to complete an online booking form and provide a minimum 50% (non-refundable) deposit.
These courses are available to book on an individual (one-to-one) basis, or in groups of up to 4 people. All of our tailored course prices include refreshments, materials and in-depth notes.

Our regular rate is applicable if you are currently in full or part time employment.

Concessionary Rate £215
Our concessionary rate is applicable if you are aged 60 years or older, aged 13 years or younger, and/or in receipt of any state benefits. Please note: undergraduate students are not eligible for our concessionary rate.
Student Rate £185
Our student rate is applicable if you are aged 13+ years, and in full-time education or currently studying towards an undergraduate or post-graduate degree.
