Photographic Etching – Photographic Gravure
£218.00 – £623.00
In this technique, the image is deeply etched into the metal plate, usually being that of Copper, due to its retaining properties in terms of fine detail.
Whilst in the dark room, the digitally prepared imagery is transferred on to the metal, which has been laminated with a thin layer of photopolymer film. The plate is then further developed and etched. At this stage, the plate can then be printed or tested, and the film can be removed, if desired, and reworked further using etching techniques. Depending on the results, the plate can either be printed with the film still on, or the plate itself can be printed and editioned. This technique can produce great detail and the resulting prints are both alluring and captivating.
All materials and notes are included in the price of this workshop. No previous experience of printmaking is required.
