AMMONITES ROCK!

I am inspired by nature and its unpredictability and am really enjoying experimenting with new materials. Perhaps selfishly, the pieces I have created are for my own pleasure, I hope you enjoy them too. I am fascinated by the traces of fossils that are found worldwide. The ammonites in this series lived during the periods of Earth history known as the Jurassic and Cretaceous. They became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous, at roughly the same time as the dinosaurs disappeared. I hoped to reveal the beauty and intricacy of their planispiral shells, tightly coiled in a flat plane, and the details of their walls, chambers and sutures.

Throughout my life I have balanced a professional career with a committed involvement in both the support and creation of artistic endeavours. I have always loved recording my life and thoughts, in a very piecemeal way, using a wide range of media - and all very personal. In July 2022, by pure chance, I discovered a linocut course at Green Door. I loved creating prints for the first time and seem to have found my natural home. I remain an avid newcomer exploring the variety of printmaking techniques, but I cannot overstate the joy I have found in the pleasure and expressive release that producing prints has provided.
