TRACES OF COLLISION

This series of prints was produced using Intaglio techniques including drypoint and sand aquatint on thin Aluminium sheet. Each has been printed on Somerset Satin Soft White using Cranfield Caligo Etching Ink, Process Blue (Cyan).

I have a background in the study of Science and I have always been fascinated by micro and macro views of the world around us and the reality it presents. As an artist I am seeking to represent this in the form of the printed image.

In my view our reality is the product of collision. The reality we experience from the infinitesimally small to the infinitely large involves the act of collision in some form or other and the traces it leaves behind. From the subatomic world to the realm of the cosmos, the process of collision and interaction is fundamental.

All of this is played out on an overall background of chaos which underlies all of nature. In the production of the printing plates for this work, the use of sand aquatint and random mark production has given me the ability to represent the particle point within a sea of chaos.
