Relief Printing for Beginners
This night class offers a chance to explore and experiment with relief printing. Using this very graphic method of producing an image; designs can be cut, melted, or carved to create a bold and experimental design. This four-week course is an opportunity to explore relief printing and colour in a supportive and stimulating working studio.
What will you learn?
Lino is an appealing, malleable printing surface on which to create an image, often producing a unique and graphic based style to the finished print.
These evening sessions will cover:
Single Block Lino
Learn how to design your artwork, carve and print a single colour block using simple tools.
Experiment with overlaying colours and cutting multiple blocks to create a more intricate design.
In reduction lino, the design is produced from one single lino block, layering up the colour each time the lino is cut. This technique is a challenging way to produce an edition of prints, as by the end of the session there will be little to none left of your lino block.
