“As nature overcomes man’s best efforts we often find true beauty.”
– Kevin A. Pickering (1960-2021)

Kevin was an artist and printmaker whose work was inspired by a range of themes. These included the male form and our perception of beauty, and the aesthetics of decay and degradation. This exhibition is a retrospective of some of Kevin’s more recent etchings, woodcuts and collographs.

All work on display is available for sale through donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.

You are invited to join us for the launch of the exhibition, Saturday 7th January (12 – 3pm) at Banks Mill Studios, DE1 3LB.

The exhibition will be showing until 28th Jan, gallery open Mon – Sat (11am – 3pm).

Inspiration for Kevin’s creative practice came from an exploration of the effects of nature on man made objects and the changes to surfaces that result from the decaying process. Weather, and the passage of time produce textures and colours, which are both transient and ephemeral yet often stunning. The world, in his perception, was just a surface. He was interested in the narrative that lies behind this and the visual evidence. This offers infinite possibilities for creative interpretation to happen, this is where true depth transpires.
