Have you been feeling an urge to get back into monoprinting? Our refresher courses are tailored to recharge your knowledge and motivate you to continue to explore the wonderful world of printmaking. Learn how to reproduce your artwork using monoprinting during this one-day refresher course and receive one month’s free studio membership to support your journey.

What will you learn?

Monoprinting is a method of printmaking that embodies experimentation, spontaneity and impulsive use of mark making. The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike; although images can be similar, multiple, identical editions are not possible.

At Green Door, we advocate monoprinting for anyone who is currently β€˜stuck’, feels ineffective or sidelined when it comes to their work. This process is also perfect for those who have never tried printmaking and would like to dive straight into using inks, tools and presses, combined with beautiful cotton-rag papers to create a series of unique and individual prints.

Prints produced using this process are always fascinating and, more often than not, inspiring. They can be both beautiful stand-alone prints, as well as a starting point from which to explore and investigate other printmaking techniques.

During this course you will create multiple monoprints on paper.

Topics covered:

  • A brief history of monotype and its terminology
  • Paper types, tools and materials in printmaking
  • How to produce your own prints using the methods covered
  • How to sign and edition your prints
