Course Details
Learn how to create unique cyanotypes from found objects and photographs during this one day course.

What is Cyanotype?

Cyanotype is an old photographic process that makes beautiful, one-off cyan-blue print images. The Cyanotype process dates back over 160 years and was discovered by Sir John Herschell in 1842. It was the first successful non-silver photographic printing process.

Being a simple, cheap and more or less permanent technique: Cyanotype enjoyed an extended period of commercial success as the blueprint process for copying drawings and plans for industry. It was only made obsolete by the invention of dry, plain paper photocopying.

What will you learn?

Cyanotype is an old photographic process that makes beautiful, prussian blue monochromatic prints. This course will cover how to create your own cyanotypes from a contact acetate negative or by the making of a photogram.
