Can't find the perfect course for you? Tailor your learning experience at Green Door Printmaking Studio... All of the processes we teach are available to book on an individual basis. These courses will enable you to get the undivided attention of your tutor, allowing us to tailor the course specifically to your interests, ensuring you get the most out of your time with us.

About this process

In this course we will look how books were traditionally bound through history and what we can do to restore some well loved books back to life.

The focus will be on archival conservation techniques, by this we mean using only natural based glues and papers and not chemical processes that conservators may have once used. You will learn how to repair tears, re-attach loose pages and rebuild broken spines. We will mainly be looking at antiquated books and documents, but it’s unfortunate that modern day commercial bound books are often poorly constructed and not designed to last forever. There is almost always a way of repairing and rebinding these books too.

This course is ideal if you have a sentimental book, perhaps a bible or photo album that you would like to restore yourself which can be very rewarding.
